Dr. Philippe Verplancke – Managing Director
Dr. Philippe Verplancke graduated as an electrical engineer from the University of Ghent in Belgium. He earned a PhD in the field of nuclear fusion research at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Munich, Germany. After working as a senior management consultant at McKinsey & Company, Inc., he became an entrepreneur in life science software in 1999, when he started developing electronic patient diaries at Nets Technologies GmbH. In 2002, he founded XClinical with the vision of creating a truly user-friendly EDC system based on CDISC standards.

Jochen Lutz – Head of Professional Services
Jochen Lutz has led the Professional Services Team at XClinical since 2004. He acquired the experience needed for this position during his time as project manager for telemedical products at Nutrion AG. Besides acting as the interface between our clients and software engineering team, he also holds the position of data protection officer at XClinical.

Heiko Helmbrecht – Scrum Master
Heiko Helmbrecht graduated in mathematics and informatics at the Technische Universität Munich. At XClinical he coordinates the development team as the Scrum Master. Before taking up this post, he held positions including Software Engineer and Scrum Master at eBay subsidiary mobile.de, where he satisfied the extremely high requirements placed on software performance, user-friendliness and security.

Sabine Retz – Key Account Manager
Sabine Retz joined XClinical in 2010 to strengthen our Business Development Team. In the last 20 years, she has been very successful in selling healthcare solutions for companies like IBM and Dell. In her last position at Dimension Data Germany, she was responsible for selling healthcare solutions to hospitals and health insurance companies.
